What to check before renting a big toy for your home
From ride-ons to slides: useful questions about space, access, supervision and the return plan.
Measure the play area and the way in
A toy can fit a room and still be difficult to bring through the door. Measure doorways, corridors and lift access as well as the play area. Share stairs and access restrictions with the rental team. Ask for the specific equipment’s dimensions and required clearance.
Match the equipment to the child
Check the manufacturer’s age, size and weight guidance for the exact toy. A product category is not enough to establish suitability. Ask how the toy operates and what adult help it needs. If instructions are unclear, resolve that before use.
Plan the surface and supervision
Use the equipment only on a suitable stable surface and according to its instructions. Keep the surrounding area clear. Outdoor equipment may have specific weather and placement requirements. An adult should supervise children throughout active play.
Ask what delivery includes
Confirm whether assembly or setup is needed, who handles it, and whether any access or delivery fee applies. For parties, discuss the venue and group separately; a home rental should not be assumed to include event staffing or supervision.
Agree the return before the fun begins
Choose a rental period that suits your plans and agree the pickup arrangements. Keep accessories together and report any issue promptly. If you want an extension, ask before the return date rather than assuming the equipment remains available.
